Waiting for the green man
The road might be clear but don't think you can cross the street until the little green man comes on. Failure to do so may well result in an on the sport fine from a lurking police officer. At the very least you will receive quite a few dirty looks from you more law abiding fellow pedestrians.

If you want anything stronger than a beer then yyou wont find it in the supermarket. The state controlled alcohol monopoly is alive and well and as profitable as ever. Government paranoia regarding alcohol will no doubt ensure it remains for many years to come despite Finland being a fully paid up member of the EU.
Pipo
This is a wooly hat everyone wears in winter. What's so strange about that I hear you ask? Well, nothing really until you see some of the more outrageous ones being sported as head ear around town. Women seem to be the most confident wearers of trendy headgear closely followed by unthinking parents who seem to take a twisted pride in trying to make their offspring look ridiculous. Maybe the idea is to ave something to hold over them when they turn into awkward teenagers. "Do as you're toldd or we'll show that photo of you in your pipo to all your friends". ---- NO us podeu imaginar les gorres que pots arribar a veure en aquest país....coses que fins ara semblaven completament ridícules de portar pel carrer aqui són totalment normals.
Winter tyres
The argument as to the benefits of studded or non-studded winter tyres rages on. Legally all cars are required to be fitted with winter tyres from the beginning of December to the end of February. In reality pretty much everybody changes from summer to winter tyres anywhere from the beginning of october onwards and back again from mid April to as lae as June depending on where in the country they live. The deep ruts in the roads are caused by winter tyres with studs and the vast majority of summer road resurfacing is to repair this kind of damage. Diehards swear by their studs, the enlighened realise, thanks to much improved rubber compounds in studlless winter tyres, they arew no longer necessary if you drive senseibly.

Hola Gema, aunque no te escribo casi, no por eso dejo de leer todas tus aventuras, no paras eh?
anda que la última ir a la sauna y luego tirarte en la nieve, me entra mucho frío solo de pensarlo, y te falta ir a Laponia, no paras eh? esto más que prácticas en el hospital parece también un tour, no paras de conocer sitios nuevos.
